Youth

YouthAs the youth of today are tomorrow’s future, numerous private and government bodies in the Gascoyne have identified that it’s of paramount importance to nurture growth and support mental and physical development.

Across the Gascoyne, there are many recreational facilities including skate parks, playgrounds, ovals, pools, splash parks, basketball and netball courts, squash courts, gymnasiums and a variety of recreational activities as well as Shire and Parks and Wildlife Service led school holiday programs.

There are active PCYCs in Carnarvon and Exmouth offering activities and programs for youth. There is also a variety of organised sporting clubs offering activities such as netball, cricket, football, soccer and basketball for all age groups. Sport and recreation activities are supported by Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, located in Carnarvon.

The Gascoyne also has the advantage of a superb climate and an abundance of the natural environment to entice involvement in outdoor recreation. Popular activities include surfing, scuba diving, free-diving, kite surfing, fishing, camping, boating, sailing, horse riding, shooting and motorbike riding.

Camel Lane Theatre in Carnarvon screens new movies at the cinema and hosts various performances. Upcoming events are advertised on the Shire of Carnarvon’s Entertainment Guide page.
