Board membership call for nominations

About the Gascoyne Development Commission

A vacancy exists for one Community nominated appointment to the Board of the Gascoyne Development Commission.

The role of the Commission is to co-ordinate and promote economic and social sustainable development to achieve strong and vibrant regions.

The aims include maximising job creation, broadening local economies, identifying the need for infrastructure services, providing information and advice to business and ensuring equitable access to government services.

The Commission also promotes and facilitates effective partnerships between government and regional communities.

A vacancy exists for one Community nominated appointment to the Board.

People may nominate themselves or others; organisations may also nominate individuals.

People nominated as prospective community members should possess interest, experience and knowledge relevant to regional communities and must live within the region.

Relevant fields of involvement may include business and industry employment, education and training; community development; tourism and recreation.

Applicants will be judged on decision-making ability at an executive level, a demonstrated involvement in either the economic or social development of the region and the ability to work co-operatively to achieve agreed goals across a wide range of social and economic issues.

The Commission strongly encourages applications from women and culturally diverse backgrounds.

Terms of appointment will be for up to three years.

The Hon Alannah MacTiernan MLC, Minister for Regional Development will make the appointment to the Board after consultation with Cabinet.
