Gascoyne Community Foundation
In an effort to promote the sustainability of regional communities, the State Government in 2005 gifted the nine regions of Western Australia with $100,000 to establish trust funds in the growing philanthropic movement of community foundations. The Western Australian Community Foundation facilitated the establishment of the regional funds and the Gascoyne Community Foundation was launched in October 2006.
At the core of the community foundation is the capital trust fund that remains in perpetuity to generate interest. The task of the community foundation is to grow the capital in order to generate greater interest to support the annual community grant round.
The Gascoyne Community Foundation grants will support people, projects and activities that demonstrate a contribution to the enhancement, well-being and future sustainability of the Gascoyne Region. Activities that may be considered for grants are those that:
- Encourage healthy lifestyles
- Provide for the needs of families
- Support seniors
- Assist carers and the disabled
- Promote development for youth
- Promote arts and culture
- Further lifelong learning.
The Gascoyne Community Foundation can receive donations, bequests or gifts of stock and property. Individuals, families, businesses, clubs and corporations can all show that they are actively supporting the Gascoyne community by making a donation. Donations to the Gascoyne Community Foundation can be directed through the Western Australian Community Foundation.
