On 12 February 2009 the Minister for Regional Development Hon Brendon Grylls MLA announced the opening of the Royalties for Regions contestable Regional Grants Scheme.
The Gascoyne Development Commission received 43 applications in the first round of the Gascoyne Regional Grants Scheme. The grant scheme was strongly contested with $8,765,202.94 for 2008/09 requested from the $3.5 million available. The total value of projects put forward was almost $20 million. The following list of projects were successful in this first round of funding.
